    Description

You are bidding on a SUPERB 1940's WW2 Imperial Japanese Navy /Army Map Set, as used by the military throughout the war!  These maps appear to cover Japan, Australia, and the surrounding islands, and originate from the estate of Corporal James Hickey,of the 3rd Marine Division, who acquired these from a captured Japanese soldier
    .  Each measures approx. 8.5" x 11" in size.
Corporal James Hickey enlisted in the USMC in 1943, and trained at various bases throughout the US.  He was eventually shipped off with the 3rd Marine Division, and later joined up with the 4th Marine Division in the Pacific Theatre.  In january 1944, he and his division begana 13 months campaign against the Japanese, and participated in major amphibious assualts, including the battles of Kwajalein, Saipan, Guam, Tinian, and Iwo Jima.
Made of a heavy paper, these maps are in GOOD condition for their age. Each page measures approx. 8.5" x 11" size, and overall, covers Japan and some of the islands around Australia.  Indicates various locations of lakes, seas, towns, villages, cities, and elevations. Also features longitude and latitude degree markings.   it is a bit fragile, due to both salt water air, as well the age, but all pages are intact.  Some slight wear, marks, stains, tears and folds as
you can see in the pics.  Some of the pages have come away from the original staples
.  Captured from a Japanese soldier, it would make a RARE
and FANTASTIC addition to any collection, display, or simply as a conversation piece!

    ------------------- ABOUT ME -----------------
Although my passion is the Me109, I do offer many other German Aircraft (Fw190, Me262, etc.), as well as USAF and Japanese items. Occasionally I do offer many non-vintage items such as prints and art relating to the time period. As a private collector myself, I am constantly on the lookout for historical memorabilia, authentic photographs, artwork or anything unique relating to military aircraft.
