Jeep CJ7-8-YJ Hydroboost mount kit for adapting Astro van or similar hydroboosts

This is a two plate kit for the "do it your-selfer" and requires welding,
(if you need the three plate kit then please just click the buy it now, don't pay and request I invoice you the additional )
. The firewall plate matches the Jeep CJ7-8-YJ power brake bolt pattern (the plate on the left in the first pic) and when welded up lets you simply bolt up your self sourced Astro van hydroboost (remove the studs and use 1" bolts) with the 6.10" brake rod. I'm putting these kits together for those of you who wish to use your own hydroboost and don't want the complications of having to purchase a socket to fit the large nut that must be torqued to 110ft/Lbs.
***If you have a different CJ with a different firewall bolt pattern just let me know what it measures and send a pic so I can match it. I will probably also want to verify your brake rod distance. I have different plates for the CJ5 and the CJ10.
These come in bare steel, they are cleanly cut by laser and have the same bolt pattern as the '92-'94 Astro van which is a direct bolt on (the later Astro unit with the angled mount had a longer rod you will need to cut/thread for an adjustable rod end or you can thread/couple the end you cut off your OEM booster/MC.  You can paint it, powder coat it or have them chromed if you like the shine.
Expect that you will need to use a 2" drum sander attached to a drill to clean up the center hole prior to inserting the tube and know that the Astro plate bolt pattern is not square so you will need to correctly orient the plate at the HB end.
The Astro van HB plate shown in the third and fourth pictures with the studs is not included, it is shown merely for demonstration of how the plates orient. You may wish to knock out your studs and use 3/8-24 hardware as the studs are long for this fit and the splines have too large a diameter to fit the holes cut in the mounting plate. The hydroboost and welded mount are shown only for demonstration.
I cut the tube for these mounts so you don't have to cut/thread the hydroboost rod in order to match your pedal assembly as long as you use an Astro van HB with the flat mounting plate and round shaped rod end, the spade shaped ends require bushing down from 5/16" to 1/2" (retain your nylon bushing if used on a 3/8" pedal pin).
I cut the tube to match CJ7-8-10/YJ that have brake rods measuring 4.2" from the firewall mounting surface of the brake booster to the center of the hole in the brake rod (as shown in picture #5). Some Jeeps had different rod lengths from 3.5" to around 5"s so if you require a different length tube let me know when you purchase this and I will cut it to match for you.

You can use other hydroboosts if you plan to source or separately purchase the Astro repro plate shown in my other listings and are able to cut/thread the brake rod 3/8-24 for an adjustable rod end. Not all hydroboost rods can be modified so select carefully before you buy your used hydroboost unit. Some early GM truck hydroboost have a section of the rod that necks down in diameter near where the rod is staked at the HB and makes a poor choice as you can't thread all the way up the rod. Also, some early Ford F250/350 hydroboost had an odd rod shape you can't modify.

***For the newest version of my three plate kit: You can install one plate on your hydroboost to bolt up to and those kits use a smaller plate than the Astro which gives you a more compact installation. The bolt pattern is square so you can bolt up the HB right side up or invert it, or clock 90* if you want (clocking 90* requires use of a MC 90* adapter and gives you more engine clearance. Reference the 6th, and 7th pics. The 7th pic shows what the welded kit will look like for a C2 Corvette where you have the mating plate for the hydroboost as the third plate.
