    Dec 8 1941 JAPANESE IMPERIAL RESCRIPT OF THE DECLARATION OF WAR ON THE UNITED STATES AND GREAT BRITAIN RESCRIPT, lithographic document in Japanese, laid out in concertina panels inleaved with protective tissue paper, having purple board ends featuring title to front with Imperial chrysanthemum device, including a slip cover and a translation of the document, which was a formal announcement declaring war against the United States and Great Britain during World War II (WWII) issued on December 8, 1941, the day after the attack on Pearl Harbor. Original item not a reproduction. 13 7/8" x 4 1/4" closed. Paper in very good overall condition with some toning, other elements in very good condition with board ends having wear, discoloration, and losses along edges, slip cover with some tears, creases, and other imperfections, personalized stamp (Arthur G. Haas) to endpapers and translation page.
